Monaco is a small state and city in the French Riviera. The languages spoken there are Italian and French. The population is around 33,000. Monaco is known for its beauty and the Mediterranean Sea. Cruise ships travel to Monaco every year, bringing tourist to enjoy the casino and the wonderful climate.
The first postal stamp can be traced as far back as 1704, but later on was canceled. In 1885 what is considered to be the first stamp from Monaco was issued with the image of Prince Charles 3rd of Monaco on it. In 1937 Monaco got their first Post office, also known as Stamp Issuing Office. Prince Ranier the 3rd stated that stamps were the best Ambassador of a Country. In 1955 Monaco joined the Universal Postal Union and in 1993 joined the Post Europe. In 1996, postage stamps came out with Princess Grace along with other famous women.
Monaco has 1695 post cards total to choose from. The post cards are rated from very bad to the best. Most of their old postcards features the game boules on them. Card number 1695 is drawn by A. Mauzan and its title is "The Mountains Told Me" and was released in 1986. In 1956 a postcard came out featuring Grace Kelly and Prince Ranier's wedding day. There are postcards of the old Monaco, and the New Monaco, with the casino pictured and some of cruise ships bringing in tourists.
