Collecting these stamps and postcards are quite popular even more than 50 years after the death of King George VI. The reign of King George VI was actually very short, he was crowned as King of England on May 13, 1937 after his brother, King Edward VIII, gave up the throne to marry a commoner. Then, George VI passed away on February 6, 1952.

The first stamp album commemorating King George VI was issued in 1956 and is still being printed. Stamps of King George VI appeal to many collectors because they are well designed and good looking.
